A hemacytometer, when used with a microscope, is the only method available to estimate sperm concentrations of extended semen samples. Unopettes ® are used during this process to accurately dilute the sample
before loading into the hemacytometer for counting. The hemacytometer/Unopette ® kit contains detailed instructions for counting sperm and all supplies necessary to count 10 ejaculates.
Additional Unopettes ® may be purchased in convenient packages of 10. The hemacytometer may also be used as a low cost alternative to estimate raw semen concentrations if a sperm counter is not available.
Unopettes ® are single use dilution chambers which insure an accurate 1:100 dilution. The diluted semen is then loaded into a hemacytometer. Unopettes ® are sold in packages of 10 or a bulk
canister of 100.
