Storage Dewars

The Storage Dewars are used to store semen which has been packaged and frozen in liquid nitrogen.  The Dewars are available in two sizes, standard and large, to accommodate frozen semen programs of all sizes. Storage Dewars keep semen frozen by being periodically refilled with liquid nitrogen. If an onsite refill service is not available in your area, it is recommended that an extra standard size Dewar be purchased for transporting the liquid nitrogen.

The straw capacity of each Dewar may vary, depending on how straws are packed.  Normal working duration of each Dewar may vary significantly, depending on the level of liquid nitrogen and operator procedures.

Model XC Millennium 20
The standard storage Dewar (Model XC Millennium 20) includes six canisters and will hold up to 720 .5 ml straws.  The liquid nitrogen capacity of this Dewar is 20.5 liters, and it has a normal working duration of 140 days.

Model XC 47/11-6
The large storage Dewar (Model XC 47/11-6) includes six canisters and will hold up to 4,500 .5 ml straws. The liquid nitrogen capacity of this Dewar is 47.4 liters, and it has a normal working duration of 76 days. Also available is a Roller Base for this Dewar.
